Vi riporto il giudizio(in inglese) di un certo JayDiggler di IMDB, che ha visto lo screeenig:
Saw the screening tonight and I really enjoyed the movie, I had a few problems with it but overall a great film although depressing.
1. I saw American Beauty and it is also one of my favorite movies of all time and this movie is very good but doesn't come close.
2. There is some dark humor in it, mostly from the mental patient son of the Givings who sees the world and people how they really are.
3. I never read the book.
5. The acting is spectacular. Kate Winslet plays her character to perfection, a housewife who is deeply unsatisfied with the course her life has taken. Leo Dicaprio is great as well. My favorite scenes of the movie involve the two of them fighting, real screaming matches that gave me chills.
6. The main character is Frank (Leo Dicaprio) so most of the movie is from his point of view, a few parts follow Alice(Kate Winslet) and a couple scenes focus on the neighbors.
7. The main characters were a realistic couple that was struggling and unhappy, during the movie you feel bad for them and hope things get better for them.
8. They still have the chemistry going for them in the rare scene that they actually care about each other, they are supposed to be cold to each other and their acting supports that.
9. The score was fantastic, extremely American Beauty-esque, in a good way. I actually thought they pulled some of the score directly from that movie. The cinematography was great as well, there were great shots throughout with my favorites being a panning shot of Kate Winslet in front of her front window and a shot of Leo in the rain, I don't want to say anymore about those shots because I don't want to spoil anything. Sam Mendes did another great job shooting this movie.
10. It is Oscar calibur, especially acting nominations for Kate and Leo. It's still an early cut of the film, I heard it comes out in December so they might change some things. I personally wasn't thrilled with how they ended the film, felt too abrupt and some scenes dragged the flow of the film a little. It wasn't too long though, I didn't have my cell phone because they confiscated in at the door but it seemed to have been between 2 and 2 1/2 hours long but didn't feel long.
Overall I loved the movie, it was well acted, well written, well shot, and emotional. You feel for the characters. I would recommend it. Any other questions just ask, if you want to ask specific questions about the film start a new topic marked SPOILERS and I'll respond.
Tutto sommato un risultato più che positivo, sia per il film che per i due interpreti. Mi aspetto un gran film, sarà perchè ho amato il romanzo, il risultato che immagino è positivo, poi è tutto da vedere.. -

Sam Mendes dirige "Revolutionary Road"
New York, 15 ago. (Apcom) - Uno strano triangolo amoroso ai confini del cinema e della realtà. Quello che si è formato sul set di "Revolutionary Road", il nuovo film diretto da Sam Mendes, non è un intrigo da poco, e i media ci stanno già ricamando sopra. I protagonisti del noir a tinte drammatiche sono Leonardo DiCaprio e Kate Winslet, per la seconda volta insieme dopo i celebri Jack e Rose di "Titanic".
Il regista, invece, è l'autore premio Oscar per "American Beauty" nonché marito di Winslet dal 2003. Nulla di strano, ma come si legge sulla rivista Entertainment Weekly, in "Revolutionary Road", previsto sugli schermi a Natale 2008, le due star avranno diverse scene di sesso insieme. Affrontarle davanti all'occhio artistico del marito, ammette Winslet (al suo secondo nudo integrale dopo "Little Children"), non è stato affatto facile: "Non facevo che dire 'è una situazione così strana', non ce la farò mai". Mentre il collega DiCaprio era molto più rilassato: "Dacci un taglio, su", le diceva divertito. Kate Winslet ha infine preso coraggio ripetendosi: "Devo solo tenere a mente che Leo è il mio migliore amico, Sam è mio marito, e tutto ciò è solo un po' strano".
Mendes invece ha dichiarato: "Ammetto che è stato bizzarro dirigere mia moglie, consigliarle le posture per le scene di sesso. Ma il grado di difficoltà non cambia anche con attori diversi da mia moglie". D'altronde è stata la stessa Winslet a convincere l'amico DiCaprio a fare un film insieme dopo undici anni dal fenomeno "Titanic", combinando un appuntamento tra l'attore e il marito nel marzo 2007.
La pellicola sarà ambientata nell'America degli anni Cinquanta, durante il periodo post bellico ed è tratta da uno dei classici dimenticati della narrativa americana del secondo Novecento, un romanzo scritto nel 1961 da Richard Yeats, tormentato scrittore scomparso nel 1992.

"Let me be the first to say that I’ve just seen the much-anticipated onscreen reunion of Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio since TITANIC. I just got out of a screening of REVOLUTIONARY ROAD in White Plains, NY - and the movie’s a killer. Clear the decks – this is a great ride.
The movie is directed by the British auteur, Sam Mendes, and its based on a novel by Richard Yates. Mendes directs his beautiful wife, Kate Winslet, who has never been better (and that's saying quite a lot!). She plays an idealistic wife in 1950s Connecticut who realizes that her dreams and freedom have withered away and she persuades her husband, the debonair DiCaprio, to rediscover the thing that made their marriage vital. I won't give away too much, but let's just say that DiCaprio goes along for the ride for a bit, but soon reality sets in and they've got to make some life-altering changes. Let's just say not only was DiCaprio's character balling by the end, but most of the audience was too.
The performances are absolutely stunning - true powerhouse roles like we
haven't since in a l oooong time. I bet comparisons to CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF are inevitable, and dare I say that DiCaprio and Winslet outshine Taylor and Newman (it's a tough call, but I said it). Jack and Rose from TITANIC they are not, and Mendes is playing games with us, I think -- it's brilliant casting, and top-notch direction on his part (and no big special effects!). Maybe the Academy can redeem itself and nominate Winslet AND DiCaprio this time.
You know this movie is destined for multiple nominations - check out the
roster in addition to the leads: Mendes (director), Scott Rudin (just won
last year for NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN), Roger Deakins (isn't he nominated for everything he does?). This is a sure bet come Oscar season.

Da quello che ho capito le interpretazioni di Leo e Kate saranno sorprendenti. Un buon segnale che fa ben sperare, anche perchè il film gioca molto sui caratteri dei due protagonisti principali.. -

Qui interpreta una moglie idealista nel Connecticut degli anni ’50: la donna si rende conto che i suoi sogni e la sua libertà sono appassiti, e persuade il marito, l’affascinante Leonardo DiCaprio, a riscoprire ciò che dava vitalità al loro matrimonio. Non lascerò trapelare troppo, ma diciamo solo che DiCaprio ne viene coinvolto per un po’, ma ben presto la realtà si rivela, e i due sono costretti a mettere in atto dei cambiamenti che modificheranno la loro vita.
Diciamo che non è solo il personaggio interpretato da DiCaprio ad essere confuso alla fine, ma anche gran parte degli spettatori.
Le interpretazioni sono assolutamente sbalorditive – autentici ruoli energici, come non se ne erano visti da molto tempo. Sono convinto che il paragone con “La gatta sul tetto che scotta” sia inevitabile, e oserei dire che DiCaprio e la Winslet eclissano la Taylor e Newman (certo è un giudizio difficile, ma l’ho dato).
Non sono i Jack e Rose di Titanic, e Mendes gioca visibilmente con noi, credo – è un cast brillante, e l’eccellente regia fa la sua parte (senza grandi effetti speciali!). Forse l’Academy questa volta potrà redimersi e nominare la Winslet e DiCaprio.
Io so che questo film è destinato a più di una nomination – basta dare un’occhiata alla lista dei nomi che si sommano ai protagonisti: Mendes (regista), Scott Rudin (che ha vinto giusto l’anno scorso con “Non è un paese per vecchi”), Roger Deakins (non riceve forse una nomination per ogni cosa che fa??). Si può scommettere sicuramente su questo film nella prossima stagione degli Oscar."

Date un occhiata quì. C'è il video di E.Tonight sul preview di RR che contiene qualche scena del film, e già mi aspetto da Leo e Kate due interpretazioni favolose. Il trailer è ormai imminente. .
