Ambientato nel Sud degli attuali Stati Uniti, due anni prima dello scoppio della Guerra Civile, Django Unchained vede protagonista Jamie Foxx nel ruolo di Django, uno schiavo la cui storia brutale con il suo ex padrone, lo conduce faccia a faccia con il cacciatore di taglie di origine tedesca, il Dott. Set in the South two years before the Civil War, Django Unchained stars Jamie Foxx as Django, a slave whose brutal history with his former owners lands him face-to-face with German-born bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz). Schultz is on the trail of the murderous Brittle brothers, and only Django can lead him to his bounty. The unorthodox Schultz acquires Django with a promise to free him upon the capture of the Brittles – dead or alive. Success leads Schultz to free Django, though the two men choose not to go their separate ways. Instead, Schultz seeks out the South’s most wanted criminals with Django by his side. Honing vital hunting skills, Django remains focused on one goal: finding and rescuing Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), the wife he lost to the slave trade long ago. Django and Schultz’s search ultimately leads them to Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio), the proprietor of “Candyland,” an infamous plantation. Exploring the compound under false pretenses, Django and Schultz arouse the suspicion of Stephen (Samuel L. Jackson), Candie’s trusted house slave. Their moves are marked, and a treacherous organization closes in on them. Jamie Foxx, who can be seen in the upcoming Horrible Bosses, has confirmed that Leonardo DiCaprio will be joining him in the cast of Quentin Tarantino’s newest western, Django Unchained.
Foxx, who is set to play the hero of the slavery epic, was apparently chosen after Tarantino met with Will Smith (Wild Wild West) and Idris Elba (Thor).
In a recent interview, Foxx confirmed rumours when he expressed his enthusiasm to work alongside the Oscar-nominated DiCaprio.
When asked what he was most excited about, Foxx answered: “I think, just to be able to work with Quentin Tarantino, Samuel L Jackson, and Leonardo DiCaprio, and to be able to tell a story that needs to be told.”
After DiCaprio’s sinister plantation owner kidnaps his wife, Foxx’s Django becomes a vengeful husband looking to get even.
Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds) is also rumoured to appear in the film but no confirmations have been made.
