Del nono film di Quentin Tarantino si sa ancora poco, le poche news parlano di una storia ambientata nell'estate del 1969, proprio durante gli omicidi di Charles Manson. Leonardo interpreta Rick Dalton, un attore che in passato aveva il proprio telefilm western (Bounty Law) che ormai terminato lo ha lasciato a fare comparsate in altri show, un passaggio al grande schermo fallito e il pensiero di trasferirsi in Italia, oramai diventata il regno dei western a basso costo. Brad Pitt interpreterà Cliff Booth, fedele amico e controfigura di Rick, che insieme a lui si trova spaesato in una Hollywood che non riconoscono più. Ma, per fortuna, Rick ha come vicina di casa una star molto famosa... Sharon tate.

Con Leonardo DiCaprio impegnato, Quentin Tarantino avrebbe in mente giugno, come data d’inizio della produzione.
In quello che sta diventando il passatempo nazionale, cioè vedere i vertici del cinema inciampare nel loro comportamento inappropriato, la scorsa settimana è stato il turno di Quentin Tarantino. Ha spiegato il suo ruolo nello sfortunato incidente d’auto di Uma Thurman sul set di Kill Bill in un giorno in cui nessuno stuntman era a disposizione, e ha rilasciato scuse per i commenti che ha fatto all’Howard Stern Show nel 2003 sulla vittima dello stupro di Roman Polanski Samantha Geimer.
Tarantino non vuole altro che tenere la testa bassa e fare il suo prossimo film (previsto per Sony il 9 agosto 2019). La domanda è se la Sony o la Paramount – che sta sviluppando un film di Star Trek fuori dal campo del regista – sentiranno una pressione sufficiente a decidere di ritirarsi dall’impegno con Tarantino.
A favore del film: Secondo gli agenti di Tarantino a William Morris, Leonardo DiCaprio è impegnato nel film e “siamo a tutto tondo”, in pista per iniziare le riprese principali a giugno. E quale studio ha intenzione di dire di no a un film con DiCaprio impegnato a recitare? D’altra parte, quando la Sony è stata contattata per fare un commento, lo studio non ha rilasciato alcuna dichiarazione ufficiale sullo stato del progetto.
A parte gli scandali, Tom Rothman della Sony potrebbe provare qualche ansia per il film sul principio generale. Per ottenere un profitto, il film di grosso budget dovrebbe incassare almeno 300 milioni di dollari in tutto il mondo. Sia Django Unchained che Bastardi senza gloria hanno varcato quella soglia. Tuttavia, questo film non è un successo sicuro. È un pezzo d’epoca, Tarantino ha affermato che il film parla meno di Charles Manson e di più dell’anno 1969.
Secondo quanto riferito, la trama coinvolge un attore televisivo sfortunato (Leonardo DiCaprio) in cerca di un ritorno via spaghetti westerns; si dice che il suo stuntman sia Brad Pitt o Tom Cruise. Ma sia Polanski che Sharon Tate sono (controverso) inclusi nel film (si dice che Margot Robbie sia in trattativa), che ha un budget di $ 100 milioni.
Sicuramente la Sony deve aver preso in considerazione quei fattori a novembre, quando il movimento #MeToo era ancora nuovo di zecca e Tarantino stava organizzando la sua vita post-Weinstein mentre cinque studi si contendevano il suo nono film…incrociamo le dita!

It wasn’t clear if Tarantino was providing an homage to Sergio Leone and his films Once Upon A Time In America and Once Upon A Time In The West, but it sounds like it. Tarantino’s pal Robert Rodriguez has used the term for his film Once Upon A Time In Mexico. Sony Pictures acquired the film after Tarantino was forced to pull it away from The Weinstein Company because of the company’s woes.
As Deadline broke last year, Tarantino has asked Oscar-nominated I, Tonya star Margot Robbie to play Tate, who was murdered by Charles Manson’s crazy cult members.
Tarantino had been talking to both DiCaprio and Pitt, as well as Tom Cruise for those two key roles. Just as he reteamed with DiCaprio after Django Unchained, Tarantino reunites with Pitt after the WWII pic Inglourious Basterds, which got eight Oscar noms. Pitt just finished the James Gray-directed Ad Astra.
Said Tarantino: “I’ve been working on this script for five years, as well as living in Los Angeles County most of my life, including in 1969, when I was seven years old. I’m very excited to tell this story of an LA and a Hollywood that don’t exist anymore. And I couldn’t be happier about the dynamic teaming of DiCaprio & Pitt as Rick & Cliff.”

Zoë Bell is staying put in the Quentin Tarantino movie universe. The stuntwoman and actress confirmed on the red carpet for “Gringo” (via The Wrap) that she’ll be reuniting with her longtime collaborator on his ninth feature, “Once Upon A Time in Hollywood.” The reunion marks the seventh Tarantino movie Bell will work on after two “Kill Bill” films, “Death Proof,” “Inglourious Basterds,” “Django Unchained,” and “The Hateful Eight.”
“I’m gonna be working in some capacity, which I can’t speak to yet, but I’m really excited,” Bell said about “Once Upon A Time in Hollywood.”
The movie takes place in Los Angeles in 1969 at the height of hippy Hollywood. Leonardo DiCaprio is starring as Rick Dalton, a former popular television star struggling to make it in the movie business. Dalton is joined by his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth, played by Brad Pitt. The two happen to live next door to Sharon Tate, and their Hollywood struggle will somehow get caught up in the Manson murders. Margot Robbie is rumored to be the frontrunner to play Tate.
With both DiCaprio and Pitt re-teaming with Tarantino after “Django Unchained” and “Inglourious Basterds,” respectively, “Once Upon A Time in Hollywood” is already one of the director’s most star-driven efforts. Bell already knows buzz around the film is sky high, and she teases that other casting choices she’s heard from Tarantino are just as major as Pitt and Tarantino.
“With those two coming aboard and the others I’ve heard sort of percolating,” Bell said, “I’m wondering how the world’s not going to implode with so much genius working in the same space.”
Tarantino is expected to begin shooting “Once Upon A Time in Hollywood” this summer. Sony has already set the film’s release date for August 9, 2019, which marks the 50th anniversary of Sharon Tate’s murder.

Zoë Bell è un'attrice/stuntwoman che ha lavorato con Tarantino già in altri 6 film e questa sarà la settima collaborazione. Non ha aggiunto niente di nuovo, ha semplicemente detto che ovviamente collaborerà con lui anche stavolta e che oltre ai grossi nomi che già sono stati fatti (Leo e Pitt) lei ne ha sentito altri che ci stanno gironzolando intorno e una volta che il film verrà fuori "imploderà".
Speriamo bene. In ogni caso io sono sempre più curiosa, anche perchè la stampa continua a descriverlo come un film su Manson e finora nessuno ha mai parlato nemmeno di un attore che possa interpretare Charles Manson, secondo me non c'è proprio nel film. Conoscendo Quentin potrebbe proprio lasciarlo fuori, da come ne parla è più ambientato nella Hollywood degli anni 60/70 che ad un omicida pazzo. Tra l'altro con l'omaggio a Leone, Leo che interpreta un attore da film western, non riesco a vederci un collegamento. Solo Sharon Tate potrebbe esserlo, e per me sarà ancora viva e vegeta per tutta la durata del film. O quasi. Voi che ne pensate? Vi siete fate un'idea di come sarà questo film? Sarà ad episodi o secondo voi sta già cambiando il copione man mano che passa il tempo?. -

Ero scettica all'inizio ma ho cambiato idea soprattutto dopo che è stato detto che non sarà un lungometraggio incentrato su Manson.
Spero facciano vedere Sergio Leone interagire con il personaggio di Leo.
Non molti sanno che Leone era ad Hollywood quando successe il fattaccio e che sarebbe dovuto andare alla festa della Tate la sera in cui venne uccisa ma all'ultimo rifiuto l'invito. Magari Tarantino metterà anche questo nel film.. -

Per me gli omicidi avranno un ruolo marginale, da come ne parlano sembra incentrato soprattutto su Hollywood, gli hippie etc. Tra l'altro sbaglio o nel 69 ci furono anche le proteste all'università di Berkley? E' pur sempre in California...
Io onestamente non sapevo nemmeno chi fosse questa Sharon Tate, nemmeno che la moglie di Polanski fosse stata uccisa da Manson, a malapena sapevo che quest'ultimo fosse un'omicida, e ora scopro che era anche un'attrice.. -

Comunque, io da Quentin non so mai che aspettarmi (oltre ad una parte per Samuel L. Jackson, a momenti). Credo che la sceneggiatura l'abbia già scritta o che, per lo meno, abbia già una chiara idea di dove andrà a finire. Poi, in un modo o nell'altro, i suoi film finiscono sempre per offendere qualcuno, quindi questa cosa non mi preoccupa.. -

Si si la sceneggiatura l'ha scritta, ha detto che ci ha lavorato per 5 anni, però dico che lui è anche bravo ad improvvisare, quindi mi aspetterei sorprese
Intanto ho notato una cosa. Siccome Quentin dovrebbe girare Star Trek 4 (è sicuramente una delle ragioni per cui lo vogliono fare fuori tirando fuori le accuse più "cattive"), hanno chiesto a Karl Urban (uno degli attori della serie) che in questo momento sta promuovendo un altro film, e quando gli han chiesto di tarantino lui ha risposto così:CITAZIONE“Here’s the thing—they’re in the really early stages of development at this time.
